Teen Slogan 1Summer Reading Program is for Adults too!

The goal of the summer reading program is to encourage patrons to check out and read books this summer! You can choose the number and type of books you want to read.

When is it?

Monday June 5th – Thursday, July 27th. Sign up anytime on or after Monday June 5th.

How does it work?

Earn tickets for what you read: Record the library books you read starting June 5, 2017. Receive tickets for the books you read starting on June 19, 2017 and throughout the legnth of the program. One book equals one ticket. Bring your reading log to the library to get tickets for raffle prizes. Drawing for adults will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017. Prizes for adult participants will be drawn at the Pot Luck on Thursday, July 27th.  You have to Read to Win!

Farmer’s Markets: Sustaining the Earth through Food, Fun and CommunityFM

Thursday, June 22nd @ 10:30 am

Michel Stevens, regional Farmer’s Market guru, will prepare us a meal with fresh, seasonal produce and discuss some of the best and most unusual finds from our local and regional markets.

Architectural Scavenger Hunt Begins

Monday, June 26th through Saturday, July 8thHOUSES

Come to the library to pick up your scavenger hunt sheet. You will have two weeks to find all the architectural objects and return your sheet to the library. The objects will be from houses in the Bolivar, Harpers Ferry area. From the Park Service parking area to the bottom of the hill in Harpers Ferry and anywhere in between is fair game. All sheets must be returned to the library no later than 5 pm on Saturday, July 8th. The lucky winner will be drawn from those who find the most objects on Monday, July 10th. Good Luck!

Low Carb Eating Done Right

Book Bingo

Come join the fun with 10 rounds of bingo. Each round’s winner will receive an Amazon gift card. A delicious dinner of baked spaghetti, garden salad, bread and cake will be served at 6 pm.

you must be 18 to play. There are only 24 seats available for this event.

Foraging for Medicine

Cultivated herbs get all the attention – but did you know that there is a world of culinary delight and healing medicine right underneath your feet? Join us in meeting some wild and wonderful weeds and learn how to use them to create tasty treats that are good for mind, body and spirit.



Sleepover at the Library

Friday, July 14th @ 7:00 pmS

Wear your PJ’s and bring your own sleeping bags and/or inflatable mattresses. We will set up the projector so we can watch movies. You must bring your own snacks but there will be a microwave and a fridge for you to use.

Everyone must exit no later than 9:00 am the following morning.


Cooking with Herbs

Thursday, July 20th at 6:00 pm.CWH

Come enjoy a delicious home cooked meal made with herbs you can easily grow in your home garden. The menu will include Rosemary Pork Tenderloin, Parsley Potatoes, Dilled Sour Cream Cucumber and Onion Salad, and a dessert. These recipes will be shared with a preparation presentation.

Cool Springs

Saturday, July 22nd at 3:00 pm. cool spring

Come take a walk and learn about the greenest building in West Virginia. Presented by the Potomac Valley Audubon Society. Participants will meet at Cool Springs: 1469 Lloyd Road, Charles Town.

Book Review Potluck

Come celebrate the end of Summer Reading Program for Adults by discussing all the great reads of 2017 and enjoying a potluck dinner with door prizes! Please bring food to share and a list of recommended reads.  Drinks, silverware, plates, etc. will be provided.
